Task 5: Social impacts of IT on society

Today I will be going through certain topics that will describe how IT impacts communities, individuals and society as a whole.

 Economic impact and working practices:

The economic impact and working practices of I.T have been very complicated and mixed. Although I.T Jobs are one of the most growing jobs currently with a 36% rise since lockdown started back in March 2020. However there is also people losing jobs as inventions for example robots are being used for services such as waiting/bartending that would be cheaper than wages in the long term. It is predicted that eventually robots will take over this job role completely.

        Legal (Copyright, Plagiarism and Ownership)

There are certain laws and rules on IT that are in place
to ensure that everyone is safe and secure on the Internet.

Copyright: Copyright is a kind of legal device that allows you and whatever property you have digitally to be fully yours. Copyright gives the owner the right to copy and express their work fully. However it is limited with laws such as the Fair Use doctrine in United States

Plagiarism: Plagiarism is for example trying to  representing someone else's work and stealing their ideas. Plagiarism can cause you to be expelled from
school, Fired from a job or even persecuted under law.

Ownership: Ownership is when someone would have
the right of possessing something. This
in IT for example could be someones digital
art that they created ownership would give them
the right of possessing that.

                           It Ethics

Ethics would be considered a set of moral principles that govern the behavior of an individual or a group of people. to the use of computers and the internet. examples would be private policies in IT, Hacking would also be considered 'unethical' In IT
as would things such as plagiarism and copyrighting.

                                                                                       https://techterms.com/definition/computer_ethics

                      IT's Inequality of Access

Although many people around the world today are
able to go and be accessible to some form of computer at home or elsewhere there is still a high percentage of people that do not have access to
this technology in their country

for example Vietnam and Myanmar have very tight internet laws that prohibit its citizens from accessing a lot of sites on the web another example would be in Africa where countries like Ethiopia and DR Congo don't have Internet or wide access to it.
